Since 2013, Casa de Paz has been working in the community to leverage support for Latina survivors of trauma and abuse in the Cincinnati area.
History
We were incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 2014, with a mission to aid Latina victims of domestic violence and their children.
Since 2015, we have been operating a support group—the Fenix Group—to provide information and resources to such individuals.
Our residential transition home opened on January 20, 2020.
Our residents stay with us for a maximum of 6 months, during which they receive safe shelter, meals, counseling, medical assistance, transportation, and more.
The Fenix Group is in operation, serving both graduates of our transition program and other Latinas who did not require a stay in the residence.
By The Numbers
As of April 2021, we have served 19 women and 31 children in the residential facility.
In 2020, we had to turn away 19 families due to lack of space in our house.
To date, 8 women, plus 14 children have “graduated” from the transition program and moved on to independent lives, free from their prior trauma.
87 families have received support in our Fenix Group.
From January 2020 to September 2021, we have served 24 women and 41 children in the residential facility, 21 have been turned away for lack of space, 11 women and 17 children have graduated from the program.
