Julia Figueroa-Gardner, a native of Puerto Rico, has lived in Cincinnati most of her adult life. Her mission for the last 13 years has been to help underserved communities by providing educational support, health management, and counseling for victims of domestic violence. She is connected with many organizations in the Cincinnati area including; Su Casa Hispanic Center, Santa Maria Community Services, the Greater Cincinnati Latino Coalition, and other social service organizations serving the Spanish-speaking community in Cincinnati. Her ability to relate and understand the Hispanic culture helps her assist survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking.
At present, she is the Executive Director of Casa de Paz; a transitional, program focusing on Latina women experiencing domestic violence. She is committed to extending a safe space to Latina women and their families, connecting, guiding, and supporting them unconditionally, without judgment, with inclusion and confidentiality, in order to facilitate their transformation and reintegration into the community.
Julia is a Cum Laude graduate of Thomas More College in Kentucky with a BES in Business Administration and Finance.
Over the past 10 years she has taught GED classes, English (ESL) as a second language, and coordinated breast cancer and domestic violence programs for the YWCA.
