On Saturday, October 9, 23 volunteers showed up to help with household and yard maintenance chores. 15 of these were assembled by Sr. Margie Nieman of St. Bernard Church. They handled indoor and outdoor tasks, including organizing, sorting, and inventorying linens, toys, and children’s clothing; assembling furniture for the children’s education area; and clearing out unsightly vines climbing up the building. Another 8 volunteers came from Western-Southern Life Insurance Company through the Hispanic Chamber Foundation. They worked mainly in the courtyard, clearing out weeds and preparing for winter. It was a very productive day, and we thank all those who so generously donated their time.
