Casa de Paz is a non-profit residential center that focuses on Latina women and children survivors of domestic violence and who are eager to transform their lives. We provide a culturally sensitive, caring community and temporary home where healing and growth can take place through the application of trauma informed practices. Residents participate in a transition program designed to heal, empower and sustain independence for their families. We are looking for a dynamic leader for the directorship of our facility.
We offer the opportunity for creative program development while managing a small case load.
The successful candidate will hold a degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or in a closely related degree, with background and experience in domestic violence, women’s advocacy, trauma responsive care, family services, and Latin American culture and history. Highly qualified candidates with other pertinent experience will also be considered. The ideal candidate for this role will be fluent in Spanish and English. Above all, this person will be experienced in culturally responsive practices and passionate about creating a better future for our residents by providing a program that will help them to transform their lives.

MANAGEMENT OF RESIDENTIAL CENTER
· Responsible for the well-being of the residentsof the house
· Oversee day-to-day management of the house, making decisions as needed aligned with board policies and procedures
· Monitor the family support coordinator’s scheduling and coordination of all service providers for residents such as psychological or health assessments and treatment, ESL classes, food pantry, clothing, legal meetings, transportation, in addition to others, and provide backup support as needed
· Provide timely initial screening for referrals and coordinate the intake assessment and orientation of new families that will be the residents of the house, ensuring the program will be a success for the women and children.
· Ensure for the provision of weekly house meetings for residents where they can plan ways to build community, address challenges in community living, plan social events and take the lead in addressing their concerns
· Create community ethos by modeling, demonstrating, and teaching positive values to all residents, volunteers, and members of the Fenix Group
· Manage the Casa de Paz residential center, staff and volunteers, including continual growth in team leadership techniques, effective assessment and management of the house milieu, code of conduct reinforcement, trauma responsive care and effective management of problematic behaviors
· Mediate any interpersonal problemsbetween families or between families and staff/volunteers
· Maintain documentation and database timely capturing individual care plans, outcomes measures and transition plans on the residential center and its families per board policies and procedures
· Ensure there is up to date weekly and monthly calendars to coordinate activities of residents with staff, volunteers and service provider’s schedules
· Coordinate staff schedules to include some evening and weekend coverage each week to offer programming to residents, Fenix group or to support volunteers
· Share in carrying house cell phone to provide after-hours coverage for periodic residents or potential resident’s calls, alarms or emergencies
· Collaborate with volunteers to develop and maintain programming for the Fenix Group (women’s support group)
· Work with volunteers and family support coordinator to expand enrichment programming for the women and children in the Casa de Paz community
· Monitor the recruitment of volunteers in order to match the needs for successful programming
· Supervise and train all staff, interns and volunteers, and provide for periodic written evaluations in a timely manner
· Schedule regular supervision with staff, interns and volunteers to provide feedback and coaching on performance and areas of improvement and weekly staff meetings to coordinate programming and addressing resident needs
· Attend Casa de Paz Board meetings and provide a written monthly status report at least two days before the meeting on the progress of residents on their goals, their needs, and outcome measures of program
· Manage program expenses for residents, maintaining controls over expenditures aligned with approved budget
· Ensure the proper maintenance of the facility and care for furnishings while coordinating with Board, volunteers or landlord in addressing needs that may arise
PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION
· Participate in the interview, screening and selection of all applicants for residence at Casa de Paz. Develop comprehensive social histories and psychosocial assessments that accurately convey families’ needs, strengths, and preferences
· Maintain consistent care plans for each resident , with the integration of cultural, religious and ethnic context of residents
· In conjunction with the Board, make arrangements to meet the professional needs (e.g., health, mental health, and legal) for all Casa de Paz residents
· Assist residents in filing legal documents. Accompany residents to court or legal appointments and delegate as appropriate
· Monitor the transition planning for each resident ensuring their readiness to transition and address barriers to a successful transition in a timely manner
· Review and monitor documentation for each resident and all the residential center documentation including shift reports and daily log notes
ORGANIZATIONAL AND COMMUNITY RELATIONS RESPONSIBILITIES
· Be familiar with and maintain positive working relationshipswith directors of domestic violence shelters and programs in the area as well as partners who are referral sources
· Attend board meetings, periodic executive committee meetings and maintain positive working relationship with the Board of Directors
· Collaborate regularly with designated board representative regarding implementation of programming and policies, addressing concerns, having regular supervision and follow up on directives of the Board
· Demonstrate professionalism by facilitating and functioning in a team-oriented atmosphere to promote the growth and well-being of women and children
· Provide leadership to create and maintain a safe living and work environment for residents, employees, interns and volunteers
· Establish and maintain a relationship with Community Matters, Santa Maria Community Services and other local non-profit organizations so our residents can benefit from ESL classes, counseling, and other support services
DEVELOPMENT AND FUNDRAISING RESPONSIBILITIES
Support and participate in fundraising efforts and public presentations to assure the sustainability of Casa de Paz.
CONDICIONES DE EMPLEO
· Have a valid Ohio driver’s license with good driving record, auto insurance and daily access to private insured vehicle during work hours.
· Must pass criminal background checks.
· Working knowledge of Microsoft products, general computer skills and literacy, and understanding basic math
· The director will be responsible for additional assignments as determined by the Board of Directors of Casa de Paz.
· Our facility is three floors and requires being able to walk stairs.

Casa de Paz is a non-profit transitional housing program dedicated to predominantly Latina survivors of intimate partner violence and their children. Our mission is to provide comprehensive and individualized services that promote healing, empowerment, and sustained independence for our residents through culturally sensitive programming.
Position Summary: Casa de Paz seeks a qualified candidate to support our programming and provide specialized services for families and volunteers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with staff and the board to identify volunteer needs
- Support volunteer recruitment efforts
- Screen and train volunteers
- Maintain an organized volunteer database and timely file records
- Work with staff to create and manage volunteer schedules
- Supervise and support volunteers
- Provide childcare when volunteers are unavailable
- Develop and implement age-appropriate programming for children as needed
- Assist in transporting residents to appointments and programming
- Interpret phone calls/or appointments for residents
- When childcare is not needed, support women residents with programming and on-site assistance during the evenings i.e. self sufficiency workshops
- Provide trauma informed interventions and support
- Complete intake and screening for new residents
- Provide on-call support as required and scheduled
- Perform minor housekeeping or maintenance tasks as required
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Working Conditions and Requirements:
- 40 hours per week, generally Sunday through Thursday or Tuesday through Saturday. Must have evening and weekend availability. Flexibility in hours from week to week is needed based on need.
- Onsite work required at the Casa de Paz transitional home
- Work may also occur at various locations, including playgrounds, recreational sites, and doctor’s offices
- Physical requirements include occasional lifting of furniture and objects up to 25 pounds, and the ability to climb stairs as the facility lacks an elevator
- Have a valid driver’s license with good driving record, reliable transportation and auto insurance
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Experience working with families, children, or providing social services to individuals of Latin American heritage
- Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field is preferred or equivalent education and experience
- Fluency in both English and Spanish
- Strong organizational skills
- Effective communication with superiors, volunteers, and other stakeholders
- Proficiency in basic computer tasks (e.g., Email, Microsoft Word, Google Docs, use of databases)
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with families, volunteers, and professionals
Must pass a background check.
